संत ज्ञानेश्वर महाराज हे नाव घेतल्यावर मन प्रेमादराने भरून जाते. कोवळ्या वयात समाजाकडून होत असलेले आघात सोसत असतानाही त्याच समाजाच्या उत्थानासाठी झटणारे, आध्यात्मिक क्षेत्रातील आपली असामान्य उंची बाजूला सारत अठरापगड जातीतील संतांना आपलेसे करीत वारकरी संप्रदायाला वेगळे वळण देणारे, आध्यात्मिक क्षेत्रातील समानतेचा पुरस्कार करणारे आणि ज्ञानेश्वरी, अमृतानुभव इत्यादी अक्षर साहित्याची निर्मिती करून मराठी भाषेला आणि भाषकांना उपकृत करणारे संत ज्ञानेश्वर महाराज सर्वांची माउली न होते, तरच नवल! त्यांनी भगवद्गीतेचा प्राकृत मराठी भाषेत केलेला रसाळ अनुवाद म्हणजे भावार्थदीपिका अर्थात ज्ञानेश्वरी! काळाच्या ओघात तत्कालीन मराठी भाषा आजच्या काळात दुर्बोध वाटू लागली आहे. हे जाणवून ज्ञानेश्वरीतील ओव्यांचा आजच्या मराठी भाषेत सोप्या पद्धतीने केलेला ओवीबद्ध अनुवाद म्हणजे 'ज्ञानाई' हा ग्रंथ!
The very name of Dnyaneshwar fills the heart with love and reverence. Despite enduring hardships and social rejection at a tender age, he dedicated himself to the upliftment of that very society. Setting aside his extraordinary spiritual stature, he embraced saints from all communities and gave a new direction to the Varkari tradition, promoting equality in the spiritual realm. Through timeless literary works like Dnyaneshwari and Amrutanubhav, he greatly enriched the Marathi language and its speakers. It is no wonder that he is lovingly regarded as “Mauli” (a compassionate mother) by all. His poetic and insightful translation of the Bhagavad Gita into simple Marathi is known as Bhavarth Deepika, popularly called the Dnyaneshwari. Over time, the Marathi language of that era has become difficult for modern readers to understand. Recognizing this, “Dnyanai” is a work that presents a simplified, verse-by-verse translation of the ovis (verses) from the Dnyaneshwari into contemporary Marathi, making it more accessible to today’s readers.
