प्रा. डॉ. शिवशंकर उपासे यांनी एमए आणि 'प्राचीन मराठीतील शिवदेवत-दर्शन' याविषयात पीएचडी केली आहे. आजरा महाविद्यालय, आजरा, कोल्हापूर येथे प्रपाठक व माजी मराठी विभागप्रमुख म्हणून ते कार्यरत होते. त्यांनी पदवीसाठी ३४ वर्षे, पदव्युत्तरसाठी २५ वर्षे अध्यपनाचे कार्य केले आहे

लेखन

बालसाहित्यपर 'ऋग्वेद' मासिकात लेखन, 'शिवरामकृत शिवकथामृत' काव्यग्रंथांचे संपादन व प्रकाशन, लोळाचरित्र दर्शन' ग्रंथाचे संपादन, 'क्रांतिदशीं शिक्षण महर्षी जे. पी. नाईक' आणि 'शिक्षणतपस्वी जे. पी. नाईक पुस्तकांचे लेखन, संतकवी शांतलिंगकृत 'कर्णहंस' काव्यग्रंथाचे संपादन प्रकाशक, शिवाजी विद्यापीठ (द्रशिक्षण केंद्र), कोल्हापूर बोए, एमए मराठीसाठी हस्तपुस्तिका लेखनात सहभाग आणि काही मराठी क्रमिक पुस्तकांचे संपादन, 'काव्यशास्त्र परिचय' संदर्भ ग्रंथाचे लेखन, 'महाराष्ट्र भूषण सहा संत साहित्यिक' संदर्भ ग्रंथाचे लेखन, 'चैतन्य' दिवाळी अंकाचे संपादन, शिवस्तवन शिवस्तुतिपर संस्कृत मराठी कवनांचे संपादन तसेच अनेक स्मरणिकांचे आणि नियतकालिकांचे संपादन.

Prof. Dr. Shivshankar Upase has completed his M.A. and earned a Ph.D. on the subject “The Vision of the Shiva Deity in Ancient Marathi Literature.” He served as a Professor and former Head of the Marathi Department at Ajara College, Ajara, Kolhapur. He taught undergraduate students for 34 years and postgraduate students for 25 years.

Writing and Editorial Work

Wrote articles for the children’s literature magazine “Rigveda.”

Edited and published the poetry collection “Shivramkrit Shivkathamrut.”

Edited the book “Lolacharitra Darshan.”

Authored the books “Krantidarshi Shikshan Maharshi J. P. Naik” and “Shikshan Tapasvi J. P. Naik.”

Edited the poetry work “Karnahans” by the saint-poet Shantalinga.

Contributed to the preparation of a handbook for M.A. Marathi at Shivaji University (Distance Education Centre), Kolhapur and participated in editing several Marathi textbooks.

Authored the reference book “Kavyashastra Parichay.”

Wrote the reference book “Maharashtra Bhushan: Six Saint-Litterateurs.”

Edited the “Chaitanya” Diwali Annual Issue.

Edited Sanskrit–Marathi devotional hymns and verses praising Lord Shiva (Shivstavan and Shivstuti) and several commemorative volumes and periodicals.

Basava Award (2000) for outstanding work in the field of education.

State-level Special Book Award (2005) from the Radhanagari Sahitya va Sanskruti Manch for the book “Marathi Kavyatil Shivdaivat Darshan.”

Ajara Bhushan Award (2011) for contributions to education and literature.
