डॉ. मधुकर साबणे

डॉ. मधुकर साबणे यांचा जन्म ७ जुलै १९४२ रोजी झाला. त्यांनी पुणे विद्यापीठातून एम.एस्सी. व पीएच.डी. (रसायनशास्त्र) पदव्या संपादन केल्या असून, मे १९७० मध्ये जर्मन भाषेचा डिप्लोमा प्राप्त केला.

सन १९६५ ते जुलै २००२ या कालावधीत त्यांनी पुणे येथील राष्ट्रीय रासायनिक प्रयोगशाळा (National Chemical Laboratory - NCL) येथे नैसर्गिक रबर, कृत्रिम रबर, मेम्ब्रेन तसेच विविध प्लॅस्टिक व पॉलिमर पदार्थांवर संशोधन केले. त्यांच्या संशोधनपर निबंधांना अनेक आंतरराष्ट्रीय नियतकालिकांमध्ये प्रसिद्धी मिळाली आहे.

सामान्य नागरिक आणि विद्यार्थ्यांना प्लॅस्टिक व पॉलिमर विज्ञानाची माहिती सुलभपणे समजावी या उद्देशाने त्यांनी मराठी व हिंदी भाषेत लेखन केले. तसेच पुणे आकाशवाणी केंद्रावरील 'विज्ञान परिचय', 'दैनंदिन विज्ञान' आणि 'नाते निसर्गाशी' या कार्यक्रमांमधून विज्ञानविषयक व्याख्याने दिली.

त्यांच्या विज्ञानविषयक प्रकाशित पुस्तकांमध्ये किमया प्लॅस्टिकची, शिल्पकार प्लॅस्टिकचे, प्लॅस्टिक का रोचक संसार, नाते प्लॅस्टिकशी, पंधरावे रत्न : प्लॅस्टिक आणि प्लॅस्टिक युगाचे मानकरी यांचा समावेश होतो.

साहित्य क्षेत्रातही त्यांनी उल्लेखनीय कार्य केले असून दांडाचा कावळा, देशमुखांचा वाडा, देवाघरचे ज्ञात कुणाला, मनाचिये गुंफी, दर्भाचा कावळा – २, रॅलर आणि अशी माणसे अशा भेटी हे कथासंग्रह प्रकाशित केले आहेत. त्यांच्या कथा विविध दिवाळी अंकांतही प्रसिद्ध झाल्या आहेत. मनाचिये गुंफी आणि दर्भाचा कावळा या कथासंग्रहांची ग्रंथ निवड समितीने निवड केली आहे.

संशोधन आणि साहित्य या दोन्ही क्षेत्रांतील उल्लेखनीय योगदानाबद्दल त्यांना अनेक प्रतिष्ठित पुरस्कारांनी गौरविण्यात आले आहे. त्यामध्ये NRDC, नवी दिल्ली पुरस्कार (१९७९), CSIR द्वितीय पारितोषिक (१९९६), इंडियन सोसायटी ऑफ प्लॅस्टिक्सचा सोशल अवेअरनेस अवॉर्ड (१९९४), पुणे महानगरपालिकेचे सुवर्ण महोत्सवी गौरव पदक (१९९७) तसेच 'Artist of the Year 2000' या सन्मानाचा समावेश आहे.

त्यांच्या संशोधन, विज्ञानप्रसार आणि साहित्यसेवेची दखल घेऊन त्यांचा विविध मान्यवर संस्थांनी विशेष सन्मान केला आहे.

Dr. Madhukar Sabane was born on 7 July 1942. He earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Pune and obtained a Diploma in German in May 1970. From 1965 to July 2002, he served at the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune, where he conducted extensive research on natural rubber, synthetic rubber, membranes, plastics, and polymer materials. His research papers have been published in several international scientific journals. To make the science of plastics and polymers easily understandable to students and the general public, he authored numerous books in Marathi and Hindi and delivered science talks through Pune Akashvani programs such as Vijnan Parichay, Dainandin Vijnan, and Nate Nisargashi. His notable science books include Kimaya Plasticchi, Shilpakar Plasticche, Plastic Ka Rochak Sansar, Nate Plasticshi, Pandharave Ratna: Plastic, and Plastic Yugache Mankari. In addition to his scientific work, Dr. Sabane is an accomplished literary author, having published several short-story collections, including Dandacha Kawla, Deshmukhanchya Wada, Devagharche Dnyat Kunala, Manachiye Gunfi, Darbhacha Kawla–2, Raller, and Ashi Manase Ashi Bheti. His stories have also appeared in leading Diwali annuals, and his collections Manachiye Gunfi and Darbhacha Kawla were selected by the Book Selection Committee. For his outstanding contributions to both science and literature, he has received numerous prestigious honours, including the NRDC Award (1979), CSIR Second Prize (1996), the Indian Society of Plastics Social Awareness Award (1994), the Pune Municipal Corporation Golden Jubilee Honour Medal (1997), and the Artist of the Year 2000 award. His lifelong contributions to scientific research, science communication, and Marathi literature have earned him widespread recognition and respect.
