(Agriculture), Ph.D. (Seed Technology) · Working as a Seed Research Officer under the Seed Technology Research Scheme at Mahatma Phule Agricultural University. · Member of various state and national level committees responsible for framing seed -related policies; 17 recommendations by Dr. Shelar have been included in seed technology policies. · Contributed to the development of the wheat variety “Tapovan” at the Wheat Research Centre, Niphad. · Organized 25 farmers’ meets in collaboration with the National Seed Project and the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority, New Delhi, to provide guidance on seed technology. · Provides continuous, scientific guidance to farmers through various media on seed production technology, plant variety protection, and seed management. · Authored textbooks on seed production technology for courses at Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University and Mahatma Phule Agricultural University. · Participated as a seed production expert in the curriculum revision committee of the Vocational Guidance and Training Centre, Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai. · Guided M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. · Published a total of 17 books on seed technology in Marathi and English. · Published 40 research papers in national and international journals. · Published 60 articles in various newspapers. · Participated in several farmer-guidance programs on All India Radio and Doordarshan. · Honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by National Chemicals and Fertilizers (2012). · Received the Vasantrao Naik Award (2015) for outstanding contribution in the field of seed technology. · Awarded by the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority, New Delhi (2016) for significant work in implementing the PPV&FR Act, 2001. · Under Dr. Shelar’s leadership, the Seed Technology Research Centre, Rahuri was honored twice as an excellent center at the national level (2011, 2015). · Mahatma Phule Agricultural University received an award (2016) from the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority, New Delhi, for registering the highest number of popular varieties under Dr. Shelar’s guidance.
