Through the medium of stories, Nivrutti Jori attempts to explore the life of rural Maharashtra in the short story collection “Dagina.” This is the author’s second literary work.
Each story in this collection is based on the author’s direct or indirect experiences.
When the struggles of the marginalized sections of society touch the heart of a sensitive writer, a literary creation like “Dagina” is born from his pen—this feeling emerges repeatedly while reading the book.
Due to his job, the author lived in different parts of Maharashtra. During this time, he looked beyond piles of government files and closely observed social conditions, from which all these stories have taken shape.
While portraying the various challenges faced by laborers in their daily lives, the author sometimes narrates the conflict between ordinary people and wildlife, and at other times presents the precarious balancing act some must perform just to make ends meet.
With the same enthusiasm with which the author has delicately depicted human emotions, it is expected that readers of rural literature will respond to it with equal vigor.
