नांदेडमधील स्वामी रामानंद तीर्थ मराठवाडा विद्यापीठ येथे गेली अनेक वर्षे प्रोफेसर व मराठी विभागप्रमुख  म्हणून कार्यरत असलेले डॉ. देशमुख तेथील मराठी अभ्यास मंडळाचेही अध्यक्ष आहेत. महाराष्ट्र सरकारच्या  भाषा सल्लागार समितीचे तज्ज्ञ सदस्य म्हणून ते योगदान देत असतात. वोलीभाषांचे अभ्यासक म्हणून ते  सर्वपरिचित आहेत. प्रादेशिक पातळीवरील निरनिराळ्या सात मराठी साहित्य संमेलनांच्या अध्यक्षपदाचा  वहुमान त्यांना मिळाला आहे. अखिल भारतीय मराठी साहित्य संमेलनांत अनेकदा कवी, मुलाखतकार  म्हणून त्यांना निमंत्रित कले जाते. भारत सरकारच्या साहित्य अकादमी आयाजित राष्ट्रीय साहित्यविषयक  उपक्रमांतही ते सहभागी असतात. आजवर त्यांचे पाच काव्यसंग्रह, चार समीक्षा ग्रंथ आणि दोन ललितलेखांचे  संग्रह प्रकाशित झाले आहेत. महाराष्ट्र सरकारतर्फे केशवसुत, वालकवी या प्रतिष्ठेच्या वाड्.मय पुरस्कारांनी  तसेच इतरही अनेक पुरस्कारांनी त्यांना गौरविण्यात आले आहे. नांदेड, औरंगावाद, गडचिरोली, सोलापूर,  लातूर, पुणे, अमरावती, नागपूर येथील विद्यापीठे, तसेच स्वायत्त विद्यापीठांच्या अभ्यासक्रम आणि संशोधन  समित्यांवर विषयतज्ज्ञ म्हणून त्यांची नियुक्ती असते. ग्रामीण माणूस, ग्रामीण समाज, ग्रामीण संस्कृती आणि  माहित्यासंबंधी आस्था आणि मानवतावादी कळवळा हे त्यांच्या एकूण लेखननिर्मितीच मुख्य सूत्र आहे.

Prof. Dr. Keshav Sakharam Deshmukh is a writer, critic, and poet. He has been  serving for many years as a Professor and Head of the Marathi Department at  Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University. He is also the Chairman of the  Marathi Study Board at the same university.

Dr. Deshmukh contributes as an expert member of the Language Advisory  Committee of the Government of Maharashtra. He is widely known as a scholar of  regional dialects. He has had the honor of presiding over seven different  regional  Marathi literary conferences. He is often invited as a poet and interviewer at the  Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan.

He also participates in national literary initiatives organized by the Sahitya  Akademi of the Government of India. So far, he has published five poetry  collections, four critical works, and two collections of literary essays.

He has been honored with prestigious literary awards such as the Keshavsut  Award and Balakavi Award from the Government of Maharashtra, along with  several other recognitions. He has also been appointed as a subject expert on  curriculum and  research committees at universities in Nanded, Aurangabad, Gadchiroli, Solapur,  Latur, Pune, Amravati, and Nagpur, as well as at autonomous universities.

Concern for rural people, rural society, rural culture, and a deep sense of  humanitarian compassion are the central themes that run through his entire body  of writing.
