मानवी जीवनातील अटळ सत्य म्हणजेच मृत्यू. मात्र, या गृहीतकाला आव्हान देणारी अनेक माणसे आपल्या वेद, उपनिषदे आणि पुराणांमध्ये आढळतात. मृत्यूच्या अटळतेला शरण जाण्यापेक्षा त्याच्याशी झुंज देणाऱ्या, त्याला सरळ प्रश्न विचारणाऱ्या, इतकेच नाही तर अमरता, चिरंजीवित्व यांच्या कक्षा धुंडाळू पाहणाऱ्या माणसांच्या कथांना या कादंबरीमधून वेगळे आयाम देण्याचा प्रयत्न केला आहे.
A mother, wandering desperately with the aim of bringing her dead child back to life, encounters Gautam Buddha. Following his guidance, she struggles to obtain a handful of mustard seeds from a household where death has not occurred—this household represents her quest. Traditionally, this story highlights the inevitability of death within the cycle of impermanent life, and it would normally end there.
However, in her struggle, she unexpectedly meets Vyasa and Ashwatthama, legendary immortals, who are even willing to give her mustard seeds… But the question remains: can Gautam Buddha, who emphasizes evidence over miracles, truly bring her child back to life?
The unavoidable truth of human life is death. Yet, many characters in the Vedas, Upanishads, and Puranas challenge this very premise. Instead of surrendering to the inevitability of death, they fight it, question it directly, and even explore the realms of immortality and eternal life. This novel attempts to offer a new dimension to such stories, portraying people who confront death, challenge its boundaries, and push the limits of human understanding.
