About this book
The Warkari saints of Maharashtra placed great emphasis on gaining control over the mind as part of spiritual practice. Through their abhangas (devotional poems) and ovis (metrical couplets), they repeatedly highlighted that disciplining the mind is essential for attaining God and achieving inner peace. Carrying forward this philosophical tradition of the saints is the important work being done by Dr. Indrajit Deshmukh (Kakaji).
In the present book, “Manashuddhichi Perani” (The Seeds of Mind Purification), Kakaji explores various exercises and practices that one must undertake to move from the primary stage of the mind (“Man Majhe Chapal” – My Mind is Restless) to the final stage (“Man He Michi Kari” – I am One with the Mind). All these exercises are, of course, based on the teachings of the saints.
Alongside the wisdom of saints such as Sant Dnyaneshwar, Sant Kabir, and Sant Tukaram, the book also draws examples from Western scholars and thinkers like Milton and Shakespeare. Following the path of the saints and using the mind as a tool, Kakaji’s exploration of eternal joy and inner peace is truly worth reading.
