कृषी महाविद्यालय, पुणे शताब्दी वर्षाचे प्राचार्य म्हणून त्यांनी १०० कोटी रुपयांचा प्रकल्प भारत सरकारला सादर केला. लोकसभेत त्यास मंजुरी मिळाली आणि महात्मा फुले कृषी विद्यापीठास देशातील सर्वोत्कृष्ट विद्यापीठ म्हणून सन्मान मिळाला. त्यांनी सकाळ पेपर्स प्रा. लि. आणि महात्मा फुले कृषी विद्यापीठ यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने आंतरराष्ट्रीय दर्जाचे प्रदर्शन आयोजित केले.

राष्ट्रीय शाश्वत शेती अभियानाचे राज्य सात्रागार म्हणून महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या कृषी विभागात ते ७ जुलै २०१४ पासून कार्यरत.

मान्सून पावसाचे लांब पल्ल्याचे अंदाज देणारे स्थानिक स्वरूपाचे प्रारूप विकसित करून त्याचे राष्ट्रीय पेटंट घेतले आहे. या प्रारूपावर आधारित पावसाचे अंदाज गेली ११ वर्षे २५ मे रोजी देत आहेत.

Dr. Ramchandra Sabale was born on 29 December 1949 in Shivthar village, Taluka Satara, into a farmer’s family.

He completed his primary education in his native village and his schooling at Pratap Singh High School, Satara. He pursued his college education at the College of Agriculture, Pune. He received higher education in Agricultural Meteorology from universities in Michigan, Kansas, and Nebraska (USA).

During his school years, he received scholarships for securing first rank. In college, he was awarded a merit scholarship, and during his higher studies, he received an FAO Fellowship. His academic qualifications include B.Sc. (Agriculture) in 1970, M.Sc. (Agriculture) in 1972, Ph.D. in 1981, and D.Sc. in 1999.

He has served at Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth in various roles including Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, Head of Department, Associate Director of Research, Associate Dean, and Principal.

He has guided 69 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students and around 2,000 students preparing for competitive examinations.

He has authored 20 books, published 140 research papers, written over 500 articles in newspapers and magazines, presented more than 200 programs on television, and over 200 programs on All India Radio.

He has worked as the principal investigator for a total of 11 national projects.

His research paper received the first prize from the Journal of Maharashtra Agricultural Universities, and his article was also awarded first prize by Godwa magazine.

As Principal during the centenary year of the College of Agriculture, Pune, he submitted a ₹100 crore project proposal to the Government of India. It was approved in the Lok Sabha, and Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth was honored as one of the best universities in the country. He also organized an international-level exhibition jointly with Sakal Papers Pvt. Ltd. and Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth.

Since 7 July 2014, he has been working as the State Coordinator for the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture in the Agriculture Department of the Government of Maharashtra.

He has developed a localized model for long-range monsoon rainfall forecasting and obtained a national patent for it. Based on this model, he has been providing rainfall forecasts every year on 25th May for the past 11 years.
