Thikrichi Fodani

Thikrichi Phodani is Ashok Kamble’s first collection of short stories, although many of the stories in this collection were originally published in Diwali editions during the 1980s. Notably, some of these stories have also received awards.

The stories offer a deep insight into human nature and emotions. At the same time, the author portrays the nuances of social and economic changes in detail, giving readers a clear sense of reality. These stories do not focus on any particular caste, class, or group; instead, they engage with small everyday incidents, the lives of the rich and poor, and the experiences of village and urban life, presenting a broad and vivid picture of society.

The richness and diversity of the themes in these stories reflect the author’s talent. These are captivating stories that hold readers’ attention, spark curiosity, and allow them to experience the essence of the 1980s–1990s era, making them a must-read.
