‘विवेकवेल’ हे वसंत गायकवाड यांचे एक पारदर्शी, प्रांजळ आत्मचरित्र आहे. शिक्षणखात्यातून निवृत्त झाल्यानंतर त्यांनी हे पुस्तक लिहिले आहे. या पुस्तकात त्यांच्या आयुष्याचा बारकाव्याने आढावा त्यांनी घेतला आहे. त्यांच्या जगण्यातला ‘विवेक’ यात त्यांनी सोप्या आणि वाचनीय भाषेत मांडला आहे. प्रतिकूल परिस्थितीत, गरिबीत त्यांनी तग धरून स्वतःची विवेकी पायवाट कशी निर्माण केली हे सांगणारे हे आत्मकथन आहे. 
या आत्मचारित्राची एकूण नऊ प्रकरणात विभागणी केली आहे. बालपण, प्राथमिक आणि माध्यमिक शिक्षण, महाविद्यालयीन शिक्षण, कुटुंब, आई-वडील, भावंडं नात्यांची वीण, मित्रमंडळी, विविध व्यक्तिरेखा आणि प्रसंग, घटना इत्यादींचे यथार्थ वर्णन लेखक वसंत गायकवाड यांनी केलं आहे.

Vivekvel is a candid and transparent autobiography by Vasant Gaikwad. He wrote this book after retiring from the Education Department. In it, he provides a detailed overview of his life. The book presents the “Vivek” (wisdom and discernment) in his life in a simple and readable style. It is an autobiography that narrates how he persevered through adverse circumstances and poverty to carve his own path of wisdom and prudence.

The autobiography is divided into nine chapters. Vasant Gaikwad has realistically described his childhood, primary and secondary education, college education, family life, parents, siblings, relationships, friends, various personalities and incidents, and other significant events from his life.
