डॉ. अवनीश पाटील

शिवाजी विद्यापीठ, कोल्हापूर येथील इतिहास अधिविभागाचे विभागप्रमुख म्हणून कार्यरत आहेत. आधुनिक भारतातील नागरीकरणाला गती देणाऱ्या ग्रामीण स्थित्यंतरांचा अभ्यास हा त्यांच्या संशोधनाचा मुख्य विषय आहे. 'कोल्हापूर जिल्ह्यातील नागरीकरण (१९५०-२०००) : एक ऐतिहासिक दृष्टिकोन या त्यांच्या पीएच डी. प्रबंधात त्यांनी नागरीकरणाच्या प्रक्रियेचा प्रादेशिक अंगाने वेध घेतला आहे. यामध्ये त्यांनी छोट्या शहरांच्या विकासाला चालना देणाऱ्या ग्रामीण व्यापारीकरण, सहकारी चळवळ आणि साखर उद्योगाच्या भूमिकेवर विशेष भर दिला आहे. डॉ. पाटील यांनी पश्चिम भारताचा आणि विशेषतः कोल्हापूर संस्थानाचा इतिहास यावर विपुल लेखन केले आहे. त्यांच्या साहित्यातून प्रामुख्याने ब्रिटिश राजवटीमागील वसाहतवादी विचारसरणी आणि मूल्यांचा धांडोळा घेतला जातो. याव्यतिरिक्त वसाहतकालीन पश्चिम भारतातील गुलामगिरी प्रथेसारख्या सामाजिक विषयांवरही त्यांनी भाष्य केले आहे. कोल्हापूरचे राजर्षी शाहू छत्रपती आणि पश्चिम महाराष्ट्रातील स्वातंत्र्य चळवळ यांवर त्यांनी विस्तृत लेखन आणि पुस्तकांचे संपादन केले आहे. सूक्ष्म इतिहास लेखन पद्धतीशास्त्राचा (Micro History) वापर करून त्यांनी सामान्य व्यक्तींचा इतिहास उजेडात आणला आहे.

Dr. Avinash Patil

Dr. Avinash Patil is currently serving as the Head of the Department of History at Shivaji University, Kolhapur. His primary area of research focuses on rural transformations that have accelerated urbanization in modern India.

In his Ph.D. thesis titled “Urbanization in Kolhapur District (1950–2000): A Historical Perspective,” he examines the process of urbanization from a regional viewpoint. In this work, he places special emphasis on the role of rural commercialization, the cooperative movement, and the sugar industry in promoting the growth of small towns.

Dr. Patil has written extensively on the history of Western India, particularly the princely state of Kolhapur. His writings mainly explore the colonial ideology and values underlying British rule. Additionally, he has addressed social issues such as slavery practices in colonial Western India.

He has also produced extensive writings and edited books on Rajarshi Shahu Chhatrapati of Kolhapur and the freedom movement in Western Maharashtra. By employing the methodology of Microhistory, he has brought to light the histories of ordinary individuals.

डॉ. दत्तात्रय मचाले

शिवाजी विद्यापीठ, कोल्हापूर येथील इतिहास अधिविभागामध्ये सहाय्यक प्राध्यापक म्हणून कार्यरत आहेत. आधुनिक भारतातील समाजसुधारणा आणि अर्थकारण हा त्यांचा मुख्य अभ्यासविषय आहे. त्यांचा पीएच.डी. प्रबंध 'कोल्हापूर संस्थानाचा आर्थिक इतिहास (१८४५-१९४७)' या संशोधनात्मक विषयावर आधारित आहे. कोल्हापूर संस्थानात घडलेल्या आर्थिक प्रक्रियांवर, धोरणांबर आणि सामाजिक आर्थिक बदलांवर त्यांनी सखोल अभ्यास केला आहे. पश्चिम भारताचा आणि विशेषतः कोल्हापूर संस्थानाच्या आर्थिक घडामोडींचा वेध घेणारे त्यांचे लेखन अभ्यासकांसाठी मार्गदर्शक ठरते. त्यांच्या संशोधनातून ब्रिटिश राजवटीत संस्थानांवर राबवलेल्या आर्थिक धोरणांचा आणि त्यातून झालेल्या सामाजिक, राजकीय परिणामांचा तपशीलवार अभ्यास आढळतो. याशिवाय राजर्षी शाहू छत्रपती महाराजांची प्रगतीशील अर्थनीती आणि त्यांच्या सुधारक धोरणांवर त्यांनी केलेले संशोधन विशेष लक्षवेधी मानले जाते. इतिहासलेखनाबरोबरच सामाजिक बांधिलकी जपत त्यांनी पश्चिम महाराष्ट्रातील स्वातंत्र्य संग्रामात लढलेल्या कार्यकत्यांच्या योगदानावर आधारित 'गाथा आपल्या स्वातंत्र्यसैनिकांची' या संशोधनाधारित ग्रंथाचे संपादन केले आहे.

Dr. Dattatraya Machale

Dr. Dattatraya Machale is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Shivaji University, Kolhapur. His primary areas of study are social reform and economic history in modern India.

His Ph.D. thesis, titled “Economic History of the Kolhapur Princely State (1845–1947),” is based on a detailed research study. In this work, he has conducted an in-depth analysis of the economic processes, policies, and socio-economic changes that took place in the Kolhapur princely state.

His writings, which explore the economic developments of Western India—especially those of the Kolhapur princely state—serve as valuable guidance for researchers and scholars. His research provides a detailed examination of the economic policies implemented by the British during colonial rule in princely states, along with their social and political consequences.

Additionally, his research on the progressive economic policies and reformist initiatives of Rajarshi Shahu Chhatrapati Maharaj is considered particularly noteworthy. Alongside his academic work in history, he has also demonstrated social commitment by editing the research-based volume “Gatha Aaplya Swatantryasainikanchi” (Saga of Our Freedom Fighters), which highlights the contributions of activists who participated in the freedom struggle in Western Maharashtra.
