Roopak Katha

'रूपक कथा' हा लेखकाच्या काही निवडक कथांचा संग्रह आहे. खरंतर या लघुकथा असल्या तरीही त्या वाचकाच्या मनाचा ताबा घेतात. काही क्षण का होईना वाचकाला विचार करायला भाग पाडतात हेच या कथांचं वैशिष्ट्य. कथा वाचताना काही वेळा प्रसंग, ठिकाण डोळ्यांसमोर उभं राहतं. यातील सगळ्याच कथा काही ना काही तरी सांगण्याचा प्रयत्न करतात. विशेष म्हणजे लेखक शशांक देव यांनी यातून सामाजिक बांधिलकी जपण्याचाही प्रयत्न केल्याचे दिसते. माणूस आणि निसर्गाचं एक वेगळं नातं असलं तरी काही वेळा माणूस निसर्गाच्या विरुद्ध थोडा जरी वागला तरी त्याला त्याचे परिणाम भोगावे लागतात हे काही कथांमधून दिसते. तर काही कथांतून नातेसंबंधावरही प्रकाश टाकला आहे.   
कथा लहान असल्या तरी त्यात एक चांगला आशय आहे. खरंतर या आपल्या आजूबाजूला घडत असलेल्या घटना आपल्याच बाबतीत घडत आहेत असे सतत वाटत राहते. मानवी जीवनातील सुख-दुःखही मांडण्याचा यात प्रयत्न दिसतो. या कथा वाचताना अस्वस्थ व्हायला होणं आणि विचार करायला भाग पडणं हेच या कथासंग्रहाचे यश आहे.

Rupak Katha’ is a collection of selected stories by the author. Although these are short stories, they capture the reader’s mind. Even for a few moments, they compel the reader to think, which is the hallmark of these stories. While reading, sometimes the scenes and locations vividly come alive in front of the reader’s eyes. Each story tries to convey something meaningful. Notably, the author Shashank Dev also attempts to highlight social responsibility through these stories. Some stories show that even though humans and nature share a unique relationship, if humans act against nature even slightly, they must face the consequences. Other stories shed light on human relationships.

Even though the stories are short, they carry a strong message. Often, it feels like the events happening around us are actually happening to us personally. The stories also attempt to depict the joys and sorrows of human life. The success of this collection lies in its ability to make readers feel uneasy at times and, more importantly, reflect and think deeply.
