इतने सालों में हिंदुस्तानी औरत की ज़िन्दगी में कुछ ख़ास नहीं बदला है। हाँ, उच्च शिक्षा, बराबरी की परवरिश ज़रूर मिली है, लेकिन घर हो या कार्यक्षेत्र, अपमान, कमतर आंका जाना और दुर्व्यवहार हर औरत के हिस्से बंधे हुए हैं, मानो वह इन्हें अपने कर्मों में लिखा के ही लाती है । ये कैसी चेतना है जो औरत के अधिकारों के लिए जब तक छीना झपटी न करनी पड़े, जागृत ही नहीं होती? ये कैसा दोगलापन?
इन कहानियों में अपमान है, भेदभाव भी है, पर हर नायिका की एक ख़ास बात है कि वह कभी हार नहीं मानेगी, हथियार नहीं डालेगी। हर नायिका की अपनी आवाज़ है, चाहे धीमी हो या तेज़। और साथ ही एक जिजीविषा, कि चाहे जो हो जाये, आवाज़ दबने न पाए।

Over the years, not much has truly changed in the life of an Indian woman. Yes, she has received higher education and has been raised with a sense of equality, but whether at home or in the workplace, disrespect, being underestimated, and mistreatment still seem to be an inevitable part of every woman’s life—as if she is destined to bear them.

What kind of awareness is this, that it does not awaken for women’s rights unless there is a struggle or confrontation? What kind of hypocrisy is this?

These stories contain humiliation and discrimination, but each heroine has one defining trait—she never gives up, she never lays down her arms. Every woman has her own voice, whether soft or strong. And along with that, a deep resilience—the determination that no matter what happens, her voice will never be silenced.

उर्मि दर्शन राठोड "उर्मि रुमी" पुणे की निवासी हैं, लेकिन आत्मा मूल निवास स्थान भोपाल में ही बसती है। विज्ञापन में स्नातक और स्नातकोत्तर शिक्षा माखनलाल चतुर्वेदी राष्ट्रीय पत्रकारिता विश्वविद्यालय से प्राप्त की, और यूनिवर्सिटी टॉपर रहीं। जड़ें भोपाल के रेडियो से निकली हैं, जहाँ 94.3 माय एफ़ एम में रेडियो जॉकी रहीं तथा आकाशवाणी पर कविता पाठ आदि किए। पिछले 12 साल से सक्रिय रूप से लिख रही हैं। कवितायें, कहानियां खुद के लिए; और मार्केटिंग कंटेंट राइटिंग क्लाइंट्स के लिए करते करते, ईबुक्स और आर्टिकल्स / ब्लॉग्स लिखते हुए, कंटेंट कंसल्टेंसी तथा फिर खुद के पॉडकास्ट और किंडल किताब तक पहुंची हैं। विभिन्न कॉलेजों में कुछ वर्ष विजिटिंग फैकल्टी के रूप में मास कम्युनिकेशन तथा एडवरटाइजिंग विषय पढ़ाए यही उनके एम बी ए के भी विषय थे। एक पुत्री की माँ हैं और एक श्वान की भी।

Urmi Darshan Rathod, also known as “Urmi Rumi,” is a resident of Pune, though her soul remains rooted in her hometown, Bhopal. She completed her undergraduate and postgraduate education in Advertising from Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and was a university topper.

Her journey began with radio in Bhopal, where she worked as a radio jockey at 94.3 My FM and also recited poetry on All India Radio. She has been actively writing for the past 12 years. While she writes poetry and stories for herself, she has also worked on marketing content writing for clients, creating eBooks, articles, and blogs, eventually moving into content consultancy, and even launching her own podcast and Kindle book.

She has also served as a visiting faculty member for a few years at various colleges, teaching Mass Communication and Advertising—subjects she also studied during her MBA.

She is a mother to a daughter and also to a dog.
