About this book

The writing in Davandi comes straight from the heart. Avoiding unnecessary embellishments, the author directly addresses the subject with remarkable skill. The daily life of farmers, their struggles, and the ongoing battle to survive are portrayed beautifully.

Davandi captures the struggle of ordinary people who live with loyalty to human values. Common people live guided by humanity and goodness, and this wisdom of survival seems inherent in them.

Reading this work, even a timid heart feels a new sprout of hope. The desire to live grows stronger. The events depicted feel like they are happening around us—they feel like our own stories. The vibrant experiences and simple sentences form the true strength of this writing.

About the author

Irgonda Patil

At a time when the term “Navsakshar” (newly literate) was not widely known, Irgonda Shivgonda Patil actually brought the issue of adult literacy to the forefront.

This man, who dedicated his entire life to this single cause, was truly a remarkable force of nature. With the passing of this activist, who carried forward Mahatma Phule’s work in education, the world lost a selfless and dedicated individual.

At first glance, Irgonda might have seemed like an ordinary person, but once he began speaking, his passion and complete dedication to his work became immediately evident. More than worrying whether others appreciated his efforts, he was deeply concerned about how to inspire others to engage in this work.
