About this book

The traditional folk art of the Konkan region is known as Khele (Naman). This folk art is still performed and preserved in villages today. Games and performances are extremely popular in Konkan villages, and the author, Govind Kulkarni, has provided detailed information about them in this book.

Folk plays like Khele include elements such as confusion, entertainment, Bharud, Kirtan, dance, songs, and storytelling. Over time, these elements have evolved and their forms have changed, but as a form of folk art, they have continued to survive in our culture. Kulkarni has made an honest and sincere effort to present and preserve this tradition through this book.
