What is Religion?

Religion is not merely scripture-based philosophy; it is not limited to a few prayers, rituals, or traditions.

Religion is an effort to provide universally accepted ways of living life. Although this book is titled “Ramzan Parichay” (Introduction to Ramadan), it aims to introduce a universal, timeless, and comprehensive Islamic way of life to everyone.

The book explains the philosophy of Islam, its methods of worship, prayers, and their relevance even in today’s times, in simple Marathi that is easy for common readers to understand.

It also provides accurate, well-referenced information on why, how, and for what purpose Ramadan should be observed as a religious duty.

This book is a collection of selected articles from the column “Ramzan Parichay”, which has been published in the daily newspaper Sakal since 2010 during the holy month of Ramadan.

It is a well-researched work, developed through years of study and dedicated effort.

A senior scholar, writer, researcher, essayist, and educationist in Urdu and Persian literature.

More than 50 books have been published in Marathi, Urdu, and English. His writings have been included as lessons in the 9th and 12th standard textbooks of Maharashtra State.

He has been associated with many nationally and internationally renowned educational, literary, and social institutions such as the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Maharashtra State Council of Educational Research and Training, Indian Institute of Education, Nadwatul Ulama (Lucknow), and the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (Delhi).

His articles have been widely published in Marathi newspapers, magazines, and Diwali special issues.

His book Dalit Marathi Adab Shenasi (an introduction to Dalit Marathi literature) received awards from the Urdu Sahitya Academies of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

He translated 15 short stories of V. S. Khandekar into Urdu and published them as a collection.

He has studied a wide range of subjects including religion, linguistics, orthography, geography, history, literature, education, astronomy, phonography, and Urdu-Persian calligraphy.

He conducted research, editing, and republication of the rare biographical book Muhammad Paigambar, written by M. V. Pradhan.

At the Institute of National Integration, he has taught Indian Army officers as well as administrative officers in Mussoorie and Maharashtra on subjects like theology, harmony, and human unity.

He was awarded the Army Commander’s Commendation Card by the Army Training Command. Notably, this is the first time in the history of the Indian Army that such an honor has been given to a civilian.

He has undertaken study tours to many countries including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, England, Canada, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Jerusalem, France, Belgium, Holland, Monte Carlo, Germany, Spain, Nepal, Italy, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Cannes, Switzerland, Vatican City, and Austria.
