Shyamchi Aai : Sane Guruji

साने गुरुजी यांच्याबद्दल स्वातंत्र्यपूर्व काळात कोकणातील एका मध्यमवर्गीय कुटुंबात जन्मलेल्या साने गुरुजींनी शालेय शिक्षण पूर्ण केल्यावर देशात सुरु असलेल्या सत्याग्रह चळवळीमध्ये सहभाग घेतला. स्वातंत्र्यासाठी त्यांनी तुरुंगवास भोगला. स्वातंत्र्य मिळाल्यावर सामाजिक विषमता नष्ट व्हावी या उद्देशाने पंढरपूरचे मंदिर सर्व जातीधर्मांसाठी खुले करण्याकरिता त्यांनी आमरण उपोषण केले. साधना साप्ताहिक सुरु करून त्यांनी आपले विचार जनतेपर्यंत पोचवले. त्यांनी तब्बल १३५ पुस्तके लिहिली. बहुसंख्य पुस्तके लहान मुलांसाठी असली तरी भारतीय संस्कृती, इस्लामी संस्कृती, अशा पुस्तकांमधून त्यांच्यातील विचारवंताचे दर्शन होते. 

About the author Sane Guruji:
Born in a middle-class family in the Konkan region during the pre-independence period, Sane Guruji participated in the Satyagraha movement that was taking place in the country after completing his schooling. He underwent imprisonment for the cause of India’s freedom.

After independence, with the aim of eliminating social inequality, he undertook a fast unto death to open the Pandharpur temple to people of all castes and religions. He also started the weekly publication “Sadhana” to spread his thoughts among the masses.

He wrote as many as 135 books. Although most of his works were for children, his writings on subjects such as Indian culture and Islamic culture reflect his depth as a thinker.
