सध्याच्या काळात वाङ्मयीन संस्कृतीचा प्रभाव क्षीण झालेला आहे. मराठी भाषेच्या दुरवस्थेविषयी बराच आरडाओरडा चालू आहे. एकूणच दैनंदिन जीवनव्यवहारात व सर्वच ज्ञानक्षेत्रांमध्ये इंग्रजीचे वर्चस्व वाढत चाललेले आहे. अशा परिस्थितीत, हे कथालेखक कोणत्या भौगोलिक परिसरातून आलेले आहेत, हे पाहणेही उद्बोधक ठरेल. या सर्व कथांचे रचनाबंध सफाईदारपणे घडवलेले आहेत. कथांचे विषय सामान्य वाचकांना आणि अभ्यासकांना अंतर्मुख तर करतीलच, परंतु त्यांच्या एकत्रित वाचनाने सामाजिक अभिरुचीचा कलही स्पष्ट होईल.

राजकीय इच्छाशक्ती, विविध समाजघटकांचे गुंतलेले हितसंबंध, ताठर / लवचीक तात्त्चिक भूमिका आणि त्यांना पोषक वा मारक ठरणारे रामाजिक वातावरण यामुळे समस्या जटिल व किचकट होत चालल्या आहेत. वास्तव व कल्पित यांच्या मिलाफातून या समस्यांचे प्रखर भान वाचकाला देण्याचे आव्हान लेखकांसमोर आहे. येत्या काळात हे आव्हान ते समर्थपणे पेलतील, इतपत आश्वासकता या निवडक कथा निर्माण करतात.

या कथाकारांमुळे मराठी कथेची परंपरा समृद्ध होईल, जोमाने बहरेल हे तर खरेच आहे; पण त्यामुळे वाचकांची समजूत प्रगल्भ होईल हे याचे फलित अधिक 'मूल्यवान' आहे.

In the present times, the influence of literary culture has weakened. There is      considerable outcry about the deteriorating condition of the Marathi language. Overall, the dominance of English is steadily increasing in daily life as well as across all fields of knowledge. In such a situation, it becomes insightful to observe the geographical backgrounds from which these storytellers emerge. All these stories are skillfully structured. Their themes will not only make general readers and scholars introspective, but a collective reading of them will also reveal the direction of social sensibilities.

Issues are becoming increasingly complex and intricate due to political will, intertwined interests of various social groups, rigid or flexible ideological positions, and the social environment that either supports or hinders them. Through a blend of reality and imagination, it is a challenge before writers to create a strong awareness of these issues among readers. These selected stories inspire confidence that the authors will be able to meet this challenge effectively in the future.

These storytellers will undoubtedly enrich and invigorate the tradition of Marathi short stories; however, an even more valuable outcome will be the deepening and maturation of readers’ understanding.
