People often complain that today’s students lack role models and do not know how to preserve values. However, it is far more important to instill in both parents and children the idea that books and great literary works can become a student’s true friends and guides. There are countless remarkable scriptures and books around us, and if children truly understand them, there may be no need for separate moral conditioning.

With this purpose in mind, renowned author Renu Dandekar decided to simplify some of the great texts from India’s ancient knowledge tradition for students. One such effort is the book based on Bhagavad Gita for children. In this book, the teachings and ideas of the Bhagavad Gita are explained in simple language with the help of modern-day examples so that students can easily relate to them.

The book also includes supportive elements such as illustrations and descriptions of the society of that period to make the content more engaging and understandable. Designed for students from secondary school to college level, the book aims to create interest and curiosity about the Bhagavad Gita in young minds and encourage them to explore and read the original scripture themselves. Through this effort, the author hopes to inspire students to connect with the timeless wisdom of the original text.

रेणू दांडेकर या प्रसिद्ध शिक्षणतज्ज्ञ व लेखिका असून दापोली येथील चिखली गावातील त्यांचे आनंददायी शालेय शिक्षणाचे अभिनव प्रयोग नावाजले गेले आहेत. महाराष्ट्र राज्य पाठ्यपुस्तक मंडळाच्या मराठी भाषा विकास समितीच्या त्या सन्माननीय सदस्य आहेत. तीसहून अधिक वर्षे त्यांनी शाळा व महाविद्यालयात अध्यापन केले आहे. आदिवासी व ग्रामीण भागातील महिलांच्या सक्षमीकरणासाठी त्या नेहमी प्रयत्नशील असतात. आजवर ६० हून अधिक पुस्तकांचे लेखन त्यांनी केले असून अनेक पुस्तकांना पुरस्कार मिळाले आहेत.

Renu Dandekar is a renowned educationist and writer whose innovative experiments in joyful school education at Chikhali village in Dapoli have received wide recognition. She is an honorary member of the Marathi Language Development Committee of the Maharashtra State Bureau of Textbook Production and Curriculum Research.

She has taught in schools and colleges for more than thirty years. She has always been actively committed to the empowerment of women in tribal and rural areas. So far, she has authored more than sixty books, many of which have received prestigious awards.
