लेखक परिचय

माझं नाव युवराज शंकर कोरे. सांगली जिल्ह्यातलं तासगाव तालुक्यातलं 'सावळज' हे माझं गाव. माझं बारावीपर्यंतचं शिक्षण सावळज इथल्या 'महात्मा गांधी उच्च व उच्च माध्यमिक विद्यालया'त झालं. त्यानंतर बीएस्सी ही विज्ञान शाखेची पदवी तासगाव इथल्या 'वसंतदादा पाटील महाविद्यालया'तून घेतली. दरम्यानच्या काळात माध्यमिक शिक्षक म्हणून काम करायचं ठरवलं आणि बीएड करण्यासाठी प्रयत्न सुरू केले; परंतु बीएडला कुठंही प्रवेश मिळू शकला नाही. तरीदेखील रायगड जिल्ह्यात, म्हसळा तालुक्यामध्ये देवघर इथं दोन वर्षं माध्यमिक विद्यालयात शिक्षक पदावर नोकरी केली. नंतरदेखील बीएडचं जमलं नाही; परंतु घर बाजारपेठेत असल्यामुळं घरी प्रिंटिंग प्रेस आहे. त्यामुळं 'पंतप्रधान रोजगार योजने'तून कर्ज घेऊन घरी झेरॉक्स सेंटर सुरू केलं.

वाचनाची खास आवड, चांगलं हस्ताक्षर आणि हुशार असल्यामुळं सांगलीच्या 'सकाळ' कार्यालयात पत्रकाराचं काम मिळालं. अशा प्रकारे विविध दैनिकांत साधारण दहा वर्ष काम केलं. बरीच वर्ष पत्रकाराचं काम केल्यामुळं समाजातल्या आर्थिक, दुर्बल घटकांचे अनेक प्रश्न समजले आणि त्यामुळं देशातल्या विविध सामाजिक प्रश्नांचा अभ्यास करता आला. नंतर 'पुणे सकाळ' कार्यालयाची लेखकांसाठी विविध विषयांवरती पुस्तकं लिहिण्यासाठीची ऑफर आली. लिहिण्याची कला अवगत असल्यामुळं 'महासत्तेच्या वाटेवर' आणि 'होम मिनिस्टर' अशी दोन पुस्तकं लिहिली.

My name is Yuvraj Shankar Kore. My village is Savlaj in Tasgaon Taluka of Sangli district. I completed my schooling up to the 12th grade at Mahatma Gandhi High School and Higher Secondary School in Savlaj. Later, I earned a B.Sc. degree in the science stream from Vasantdada Patil College in Tasgaon.

During this period, I decided to work as a secondary school teacher and started trying to pursue a B.Ed., but I was unable to secure admission anywhere. Never the less, I worked for two years as a secondary school teacher at Devghar in Mhasala Taluka of Raigad district. Although I could not complete my B.Ed., since my family owns a business at home with a printing press, I was able to take a loan under the Prime Minister’s Employment Scheme and start a Xerox center at home.

With a strong interest in reading, good handwriting, and being skilled, I got a job as a journalist at the Sakal office in Sangli. Over the years, I worked in various newspapers for about ten years. Through my experience as a journalist, I came to understand many issues faced by economically and socially weaker sections, which also allowed me to study various social problems in the country.

Later, the Pune Sakal office offered me opportunities to write books on different topics for writers. With a good command of writing, I authored two books: Mahasattechya Vatevar and Home Minister.
