Author(s):  Kishor Dnyaneshwar Rithe

Not only hunting for pleasure or adventure, but also power transmission lines, dams, mining, wars, air transportation, and humanity’s ever-growing appetite for consumption pose serious threats to wildlife, birds, insects, plants, and every element of nature—including air, soil, and water. The increasing destruction of mountain ranges, rivers, oceans, deserts, and forests compels us to rethink this model of “destructive development.” Understanding how organizations like BNHS and naturalists work to address the challenges created by human interference is both fascinating and enlightening.

The author, Kishor Rithe, Director of BNHS, possesses vast knowledge and an exceptional ability to explain complex subjects in simple language. Having worked in the field of nature conservation for the past three decades and serving as a member of the National Policy Committee on Forests, Wildlife, and Environment, he offers fresh perspectives on conservation and protection. This is why the book inspires hope for a better future.

Human beings are merely one component of nature—not its masters. Our own existence can endure only if we learn to live in harmony with nature while respecting all its elements. Jan Jangal is a book that imparts this wisdom.
